If you’ve bought a drone and are looking for exciting and dramatic new places to fly with it across the U.S.,then here are a few ideas:
- San Francisco, California
Drones are growing in popularity all over the world, but nowhere are they more fun to fly than in the states, and if you head to San Francisco, you’ll be spoilt for a choice of places to fly your drone and capture awesome aerial photography or video footage. Aside from the stunning vista’s, San Francisco can be a fantastic location for any budding drone enthusiast, and many organizations and start-up’s featuring drone technology can be found here.
- Haiku Stairs, Hawaii
Also known as Stairway to Heaven, this exquisite location in Hawaii is perfectly suited for flying a drone and capturing some of the stunning views from the top of a mountain on the island of Oahu. The hiking trail to get to the top of the mountain has been closed for many years now, making drones perhaps the best way of capturing footage from its peak.
- Mount Evans, Colorado
Colorado is a spectacular state and offers drone users a wealth of beautiful spots for flying and taking pictures, however, the state does contain a lot of national parks, and while these may present many opportunities for drone footage, there can be quite a few ‘no-fly’ zones. That said, there are no restrictions in place at Mount Evans, and the atmospheric mountainous terrain coupled with the surrounding beauty, can be quite a lure for professional and recreational drone photographers.
- The Great Lakes
This series of interconnected lakes form the largest group of freshwater lakes on the planet by area, and the second largest by total volume, with each lake as incredible as the next. With weather systems greatly affecting how each of these lakes appears from season to season, and even from day to day, a drone camera can capture some truly breath-taking images at any time of the year. When the water is clear at Lake Michigan, the ghostly shapes of shipwrecks can be seen on the bed of the lake, and what better way to see them than through the eyes of a drone.
- Prince William Sound
This sound is riddled with islands and plays host to precipitous fjords, terrifyingly sheer mountains, huge tidal glaciers and a diverse range of incredible creatures. The possibilities for adventure are virtually boundless here and flying a drone here can be awe inspiring. If you’re looking for a dreamy destination with heart stopping beauty and a feeling of genuine remoteness, then this is probably the place for you.
Have fun when flying your drone wherever you are in the world, but always remember to comply with the rules and regulations, and if you’re not sure whether any restriction are in place at your destination, please check with the local authority before you begin flying.
